Find Out Guide And Information About Fleet Management Software Package

By Phil Andrews

Fleet management software is nothing new, but most fleet managers say that it does make their life easier. Many of the packages previously on the market have been tried and tested in a variety of companies with some success. Whether or not a full package with all the applications was used tended to depend on the size of the company and the number of vehicles they had on hire or lease.

Not every type of business will require a vehicle monitoring software system. If the company does not lease, hire of purchase vehicles or only rarely hires, then they will not require a system. However, for the majority of companies that do operate vehicles as part of their business, they are likely to find that a vehicle monitoring system can prove beneficial for the business when utilized correctly.

Many vehicle leasing and hire companies have until fairly recently, been the main source for vehicle monitoring systems. However, with many companies now looking to web hosting to maintain their records and operate their systems there has been an increase in the number of independent vehicle monitoring suppliers.

What many vehicle managers have come to recognize is that they if they choose an independent vehicle monitoring system, they have more control over the level of service they receive. They are not tied down to one lease or hire company when it comes to renewing their vehicles and can often achieve a much better price by using the monitoring system to obtain several quotes for comparison.

There are also advantages to be gained on the administration costs when using a web hosting. The vehicle manager does not require providing staff to maintain the system or to keep the system secure. All the administration, including the backup and software updates will become the responsibility of the web hosting company. The level of service will be set out in a service agreement.

The system can be set to automatically flag up important reminders for vehicles and drivers. The reminders can include such things as MOTs and services as well as a drivers license renewal, or a reminder about medicals related to driving. In addition, the system will be updated with relevant health and safety information.

Managers can manipulate and design reports that will provide them with meaningful information to run the business. That can include information on vehicle performance, fuel costs, breakdown costs, etc. The system will highlight exceptions allowing an immediate response to address the issue quickly.
