How To Clean Your Driveway Using A Karcher Pressure Washer

By Jacob Phillips

Learning the easy ways for how to clean your patio or driveway using a Karcher pressure washer will take minimal time and effort. By following a few steps to prepare for cleaning the surface and using a washer that has a minimum of 3000 PSI, you can clean the area quickly.

Several attachments are included with most washers. If you have a long driveway you may want to purchase a longer hose so you do not have to keep moving the washer. You will need a 15 degree wand. These wands are specifically designed for concrete driveway and patios. When pressure washing a different surface, testing a corner of the driveway first to make sure it will not be damaged will be one of the steps to take before you begin.

A pressure washer is a powerful piece of machinery that must be treated with respect. Wearing safety equipment that includes eye goggles and heavy duty gloves will keep you safe when using the washer. The larger washers have pneumatic tires and many of the features that you will see on regular commercial washers. All of the attachments that you are using with your pressure washer should be securely tightened so they do not fly off when you are washing a surface.

There are some steps to take in preparing for washing that will help you to achieve better results. Remove all toys, debris and loose dirt from the surface. When the washer is used, the spray will force particles to fly or be thrown up. When you have removed all surface dirt, use a commercial solution made to remove stains on spots. This solution is usually left on the spot overnight and is made for concrete, cement or asphalt.

A pre-treating solution is put on the driveway and left for at least ten minutes. This solution contains a degreaser that will break the oils and grease up so that it will wash away easily.

When the driveway has been prepared for cleaning, use the washer in even, overlapping motions. Start at the highest point on the drive so the dirt will flow down. When you have pressure washed the entire driveway and it is completely clean let it dry at least twenty-four hours. After the pavement is completely dry, apply a sealant that is made for driveways to protect the surface.
